Ways You Can Install Tile Flooring

by Sara T. Loving

Home improvement projects are pretty famous, and they are the most basic projects a person doing them can handle. The things you need to consider are following the given procedures, which are putting adhesive, putting the tile in the floor, grouting the tile and fastening the grout. Even if this seems like a straightforward procedure, you have to be skilled enough to handle the job. The reason as to why a skilful person is fundamental is because the tile has many layers to it, and you need to exhaust each layer before you get the right finishing product. In case you want to carry out Tile installation by yourself, make sure you are good at DIY activities.

Steps to follow as you install your tiles

  • Mix mortar and lay the main floor

Before you start mixing your mortar, follow the proposals given to you by your manufacturer. After doing this, the next step is to apply a bed of mortar to the floor using a notched trowel, and it should be at a 45 degrees angle. Make sure you apply enough amounts because the solution tends to dry up fast. After doing this, you need to lay the tile down on the bed of the mortar and work it back and forth to make sure the adhesion is excellent.

  • Cut tile and lay edges

Cutting tiles is not a difficult task, but consider all safety protocols before you start cutting your tiles. Make sure you have protective glasses that protect you from the tiny tiles that jump up as you miss your tile. Before laying your mortar, ensure your tile has already been cut. This is because mortars usually dry up very fast. Before you cut your tile, make sure you have the needed measurements to avoid uneven tiles.

  • Do away with the spacers

The moment you have finished installing your tiles and the mortar has finished drying; the next step is to do away with the spacers and make sure you clear all the spacers to avoid testing of tiles before their time.

  • Grout

Grouting is amongst the last procedures left when it comes to tile installation. Grouting gives you the best-finished job, and your tiles will look amazing. You could also choose a unique grout colour, as this will add more character to your tiles. When it comes to solid colour tiles, selecting a grout that is the same colour as your tile makes the installation process uniform.

Conclusion

Installing tiles is a simple process, but always ensure you know what you are doing. You don’t want to install tiles if they start breaking too early or getting wet inside, as this will lead to pretty expensive repairs. Follow the procedures listed above,e and have unique tiles in your home. If you don’t think you will do a good job, you could always employ a professional to do the job for you and agree on the mode of payment that fits you.
